Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 7PM. This meeting will again be held virtually using the “Zoom” meeting platform. We will proudly host guest artist / teacher Bob Van Dyke.
After 18 years as an award-winning chef Bob left the business to begin a career in woodworking and teaching. Furniture making had provided an outlet to the pressures of the restaurant business until 1993 when Van Dyke started the Harris Enterprise School of Fine Woodworking. In seven years of operation the school gained national exposure and recognition.
In 2000 he formed a business partnership to open the Manchester, Conn. Woodcraft store and the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking. In addition to teaching, Van Dyke continues to build commission furniture pieces and new projects for upcoming classes.
Bob will share with us his method of creating a couple of different styles of Federal Fan Inlay to complement your piece. He will discuss the process in cutting, sand shading, and installing this inlay.
Also on tap, CJWA member Matt Greco, will share with us the bedroom furniture he made. Matt is a resourceful and productive member who has built much of the furniture in his house.
Please note that the CJWA is still accepting new members and there is still time to become a member and participate in this very interesting and informative meeting. Just contact us and one of our officers will assist you in the process.
