The Central Jersey Woodworkers Association normally meets monthly on the second Wednesday of the month (except for July and August) from 7:00PM to 10:00PM at the Old Brick Reformed Church on Route 520 in Marlboro NJ. We welcome new members and guests.

Membership

The Central Jersey Woodworkers Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization of woodworkers founded for the purpose of providing a resource to the community for the promotion of woodworking and woodworking education at all levels of experience, sharing of information about woodworking techniques, tools, and sources for supplies, and facilitating the exchange of ideas with fellow woodworkers.

We always welcome new members to our club.  As a member you will enjoy all of the benefits described above with the additonal perks found on our members only area; discounts for lumber, tools and hardware, access to our book and multimedia library, group builds, and educational seminars.

2018 CJWA Holiday Party

At the December meeting on 12th we will continue with the CJWA tradition of a Holiday Pot Luck Dinner, where there will be much conversation about woodworking and an even larger amount of food. This year’s Holiday Dinner meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. Please try to arrive by 6:00/6:30 pm, so we can get everything set up by 7:00 pm.

As we have done in the past, everyone is asked to bring a main course, a side dish or a dessert. If you bring enough food for 6 to 8 people, we should have more than enough for everyone. Family members are certainly welcome to come.

The club will provide soda, water, paper plates and plasticware. To keep the menu balanced please contact Scott Goldstein to indicate what food you are bringing. Following the feast, we will have a short meeting. We hope to see everyone there.

 

Note:
Chaffing racks will be ready to heat the food - Use ½ tray for hot dishes
(Remember we aren’t allowed to use the stove)

CJWA meeting November 2018

CJWA’s Featured Speaker –Matt Kestenbaum
November 14th

For the meeting this coming Wednesday Nov. 14th the speaker will be our current club president Matt Kestenbaum. http://mkestenbaum.com  Matt is going to do a presentation, of a complicated laminated tapered leg table he is currently been building.

This month’s “Mini Fundamentals” William Duffield will be talking about the different ways to hold work on a bench.

We are also going to be talking about upcoming elections. In addition we will be asking members to consider presentations of a project for a spring meeting. We will also be talking about group builds. So if you have an idea for a group build and would like to lead one let us know about at Wednesday’s meeting.

We will be presenting the Auction results and some general business as well.

CJWA meeting October 2018

For the October meeting, our guest speaker will be Andrew Hunter who is a Profession Cabinetmaker and builds furniture with a Japanese flair.

Andrew has written numerous articles for Fine Woodworking as well as teaching classes at a number of woodworking schools.

He will give a talk on how he got started as well as a slide presentation of some of his work. Andrew will also give a demonstration on using Japanese Hand Planes, which will be available for club members to try.

CJWA meeting September 2018

CJWA’s Featured Speaker –Matthew Kenney
September 12th

Welcome back from the Summer Break! 

We are excited for the start CJWA’s upcoming fall!  Our September 12th meeting promises to be a great one as we welcome guest speaker Matthew Kenney.  As I’m sure most of you regularly read Fine Woodworking Magazine, you are probably already familiar with his woodworking – as until very recently – Matthew was the Senior Editor of FWW.  As well as writing dozens of articles for the magazine and editing scores more, he is also the author of the recent book 52 Boxes In 52 Weeks.

Among his frequent aesthetic motifs is the use of Kumiko – the geometrically complex, Japanese grillwork.  Matt will be discussing and demonstrating Kumiko for CJWA at the Sept. 12 Meeting
