March meeting: Workbenches

The March CJWA meeting will be on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 PM.  Please note the date change for Ash Wednesday, and again we apologize for the short notice.

At the March meeting, we will be discussing workbenches. Everyone needs a workbench for their shop, and this meeting will go a long way towards helping you identify what you need in a bench. Marc Gaertner will be talking about the workbench that he built for our club that was put to good use at our booth at the Woodworking Show. Wilbur Pan will be talking about building his Roubo bench. Of course, we will welcome input from anyone else who has made a bench, and questions from those thinking about building a workbench.

Simon Stark will also be presenting his shop for Shop of the Month, our series of CJWA members talking about their shop and how they deal with woodworking tasks.

Wood for sale in Manasquan

Grant Duncan contacted our club to let us know that he has wood for sale. He will be moving soon and is looking to sell off his lumber.

He will be holding a “yard sale” for CJWA members at 112 Broad Street, Manasquan, NJ on Saturday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.  There are cherry crotches, butternut, walnut, black jack oak, eastern white pine, to name some of the species he has.

CJWA March meeting date change to March 16, at 7 PM

Due to the Ash Wednesday holiday, we have to move our meeting date to March 16 at our usual time of 7 PM. Sorry for the short notice and inconvenience.

We are still determining the topic for the meeting, and will be updating the website with that information soon.

CJWA at The Woodworking Show, Somerset Feb. 25-27

CJWA will again have a booth at The Woodworking Show at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset on Feb. 25-27.  Frank Vucolo, Simon Stark, John Tamaino, and Joe Milmoe have really done an excellent job organizing what will be our biggest and best booth ever.  In addition to a display of projects made by CJWA members, we will also have a running series of demonstrations given by CJWA members.

For potential new members, we have a special treat. If you are not a member of CJWA, stop by our booth, and you can pick up a card to be eligible to enter into a raffle for a Lee Valley low angle block plane. If you then come to one of our meetings between now and May, you can put in your card to enter the raffle.  Thanks to Lee Valley for generously donating the plane to our club.
