CJWA Meeting June 12th at 7:00 PM

For June, we will be doing the traditional members exhibition. For new members, everyone is invited to bring in a project you’ve recently completed or completed in the past but haven’t shared with the group. We set up tables to display the projects and everyone takes turns saying a few words about what you brought in. Tag your work with your name, so when everyone is walking around the members will know who brought in the projects.

The more pieces displayed the better, which is why this notice is being sent out so early. We are starting to put together the Fall meeting schedule already. Some of our best meetings have been seeing what fellow members are working on or recently completed. Please consider sharing your work with the group. Let Bob or I know and we can help you with the presentation.

Handplane Seminar May 18 9AM -12 Noon $20

Our next educational seminar will be held at The Wood Joint School in Tinton Falls, NJ on Saturday, May 18, from 9-12AM.  The address of the school is 3300 Shafto Road, Unit C, Tinton Falls, NJ.  We welcome all members to participate;  from new in hand plane use to experienced, all can learn something.  Bring your handplane(s) with you, specifically a bench or smoother plane, (and any sharpening stones that you may have), and if you don’t own a hand plane, we can supply something for you to try. If you have a small piece of wood 1-2 feet long, that you would like to practice on, bring it.  I will bring some different woods from my stash for all to try out.   We will learn sharpening and tune up of the hand plane, proper use of this important tool, and finally we will hand plane two or more surfaces flat and square.  Our lead intructor will be Brian Holcombe.  Also we are skiing for a $20 donation for the use of the building.  For planing and space puposes, please notify Bob Emmons (bob-emmons@comcast.net) your intentions on attending as soon as possible.
