The Central Jersey Woodworkers Association normally meets monthly on the second Wednesday of the month (except for July and August) from 7:00PM to 10:00PM at the Old Brick Reformed Church on Route 520 in Marlboro NJ. We welcome new members and guests.

The Central Jersey Woodworkers Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization of woodworkers founded for the purpose of providing a resource to the community for the promotion of woodworking and woodworking education at all levels of experience, sharing of information about woodworking techniques, tools, and sources for supplies, and facilitating the exchange of ideas with fellow woodworkers.

Robert Hemsen, one of our club members, did a fabulous presentation on his reproduction Block Front Chest of Drawers in Curly Maple. This is a work in progress where he explained his method for creating all the detail for the drawers and top using mostly hand tools. Members who were not able to attend can see Bob’s presentation can be seen in the members section by clicking on the “Video” tab.
Danny Birnbaum a Professional Cabinet Maker from East Orange , NJ educated and entertained us with details of some of his past projects and how he overcame some obstacles in producing his clients’ desired results.
The seminar covered all the machine process required to take rough lumber to 4 side squared prior to starting a project. Machine safety was covered and everyone came away with a logical safe process when they return to their shops. Vacuum Press veneering was also covered with a demonstration, and explanation of the process and materials used.
The June CJWA meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 7:00 PM. Before we break for the summer, we will be holding our annual CJWA member showcase. Members are encouraged to bring along projects they have recently completed or are in the process of completing for a “show-and-tell”. There will be opportunity for photographs to be taken for the members gallery. We will also be discussing some of our summer activities.
