April meeting: Works in progress

The April CJWA meeting will be on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 PM. At the April meeting, we will be discussing works in progress. Bob Hemsen will be giving a presentation on an English Georgian hall table that he is in the middle of building.  If you have a project in the works that you would like to talk about or would like to get input from the other CJWA members, please feel free to bring it for show and tell as well. This is a great way to get over that part of your project that you’ve been stuck on.

Woodturning classes with Michael Kehs

Michael Kehs is a member of the Bucks Woodturners in Bucks County PA, and is a Demonstrator and Teacher. His demos include but are not limited to Carving on Turning, Inside-out Turning, Thin Wall Open Vessels, Piercing and Airbrushing. He is offering classes this spring.  For a list of classes he has a brochure that you can download here.

March meeting: Workbenches

The March CJWA meeting will be on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 PM.  Please note the date change for Ash Wednesday, and again we apologize for the short notice.

At the March meeting, we will be discussing workbenches. Everyone needs a workbench for their shop, and this meeting will go a long way towards helping you identify what you need in a bench. Marc Gaertner will be talking about the workbench that he built for our club that was put to good use at our booth at the Woodworking Show. Wilbur Pan will be talking about building his Roubo bench. Of course, we will welcome input from anyone else who has made a bench, and questions from those thinking about building a workbench.

Simon Stark will also be presenting his shop for Shop of the Month, our series of CJWA members talking about their shop and how they deal with woodworking tasks.

Wood for sale in Manasquan

Grant Duncan contacted our club to let us know that he has wood for sale. He will be moving soon and is looking to sell off his lumber.

He will be holding a “yard sale” for CJWA members at 112 Broad Street, Manasquan, NJ on Saturday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.  There are cherry crotches, butternut, walnut, black jack oak, eastern white pine, to name some of the species he has.

CJWA March meeting date change to March 16, at 7 PM

Due to the Ash Wednesday holiday, we have to move our meeting date to March 16 at our usual time of 7 PM. Sorry for the short notice and inconvenience.

We are still determining the topic for the meeting, and will be updating the website with that information soon.
