CJWA 2017 Holiday Party

At the December meeting on Dec. 13 we will continue with the CJWA tradition of a Holiday Pot Luck Dinner, where there will be much conversation about woodworking and an even larger amount of food. This year’s Holiday Dinner meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. Please try to arrive by 6:00/6:30 pm, so we can get everything set up by 7:00 pm.

As we have done in the past, everyone is asked to bring a main course, a side dish or a dessert. If you bring enough food for 6 to 8 people, we should have more than enough for everyone. Family members are certainly welcome to come.

The club will provide soda, water, paper plates and plasticware. To keep the menu balanced please contact Scott Goldstein to indicate what food you are bringing. Following the feast, we will have a short meeting. We hope to see everyone there.

Note:
Chaffing racks will be ready to heat the food - Use ½ tray for hot dishes
(Remember we aren’t allowed to use the stove)

CJWA Fall 2017 Tool Auction

Dear Fellow Woodworkers,

We are pleased to announce the CJWA 2017 Online Tool Auction.  If you have been to a meeting in the last several months, you are probably already aware of it, but for those we haven’t seen in a while, CJWA was the recipient of a very generous donation.  A complete shop of tools, those tools with the addition of some others consigned for auction, are being offered.  This auction benefits CJWA (a 501c3 non-profit organization) as a direct fundraiser.

Bidding opened at 8:00 AM Sunday (11/12/17) morning and will remain open until approximately 8:00 PM next Sunday (11/19/17).  Please read ALL of the information CAREFULLY regarding rules, bidding, and claiming tools.  The web address of the auction is below.

David’s chest has many classic features, one such facet is the pair of inset fluted quarter columns which he will be talking about along with some of the process and challenges he has encountered along the way.

Next Marc Gaertner is going to explain what Barley Twist candlesticks are. He will than demonstrate how to make them and what he learned using a combination of turning and carving skills to create them.
